Biography:
From the Manchester School of Art to the Manchester Regional College of Art (now Manchester Metropolitan University) through twenty years in publishing as creative director for the Cheshire Life, Lancashire Life and Yorkshire Life magazine group to eventually, in 1986 creating Artbox, my design and illustration studio.
Initially concentrating on a design portfolio with some illustration, I adjusted the emphasis of my work in 1996 with a series of watercolour paintings of Cheshire and Scotland.
In 2007 I started a series of oil paintings of Manchester, the first six inspired by photographs I had taken in the early 1970's and I have now turned my attention to present day Manchester. Two are here, Towards Blackfriars Bridge 2011 and Old Bank Street Manchester 2011.
After a change of scene, a Northumberland seascape (soon to be on this page) and a snow covered Chadkirk Road in Romiley, I have returned to Manchester with a painting of the Palace Theatre (in progress) and I have just finished a pencil drawing of Uppermill village which is displayed below.
Artist's Location: Stockport, Cheshire.
