Biography:
From the Manchester School of Art to the Manchester Regional College of Art (now Manchester Metropolitan University) through twenty years in publishing as creative director for the Cheshire Life, Lancashire Life and Yorkshire Life magazine group to eventually, in 1986 creating Artbox, my design and illustration studio.
Initially concentrating on a design portfolio with some illustration, I adjusted the emphasis of my work in 1996 with a series of watercolour paintings of Cheshire and Scotland.
In 2007 I started a series of oil paintings of Manchester, the first six inspired by photographs I had taken in the early 1970's and I have now turned my attention to present day Manchester. Two are here, Towards Blackfriars Bridge 2011 and Old Bank Street Manchester 2011.
Earlier this year I completed oil paintings of Crow Wood in Lyme Park, Evening fishing at Eyemouth in Scotland, The Thames at Hampton Court and a pencil drawing of the main street in Uppermill near Oldham. After my one man exhibition at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph and the Saddleworth Artists Group exhibition in November I am now back to painting and the subject of my next oil is a Northumberland seascape looking towards Bamburgh Castle from Seahouses.
Artist's Location: Stockport, Cheshire.
