Biography:
I studied art and design initially in east Lancashire and then a Fine Art honours degree in Lancaster, University of Central Lancashire.I later studied at post-graduate level in Art Therapy at Herts University.
A few years later I trained and worked as a psychotherapist in the NHS.
I now work full-time as an artist.
The artwork:
For a number of years I have focussed soley on printmaking, making one-off pieces of work , or very small ( max of 5 ),
variable editions, with individual colours and
treatments.
All are hand made
using specialist materials.
I use a variety of techniques,
collagraph mainly, but also
combine techniques such as collagraph with drypoint on
alumiium sheets and using carborundrum powder or
monoprinting.
I work now from my garden studio having previously worked in The Printroom at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal. I currently also work at Art Lab Contemporary Print Studios, Preston, Lancs.
My studio and my home are on the edge of the Bowland Fells, south of Lancaster.
I am concerned with natural forms and the creation of mood and atmosphere through colour, texture and using plant structures and shapes metaphorically.
I exhibit widely accross England and Wales and will shortly be starting an M.A.in Printmaking and Painting at The University of Central Lancashire, this year.
Artist's Location: Scorton, Preston, Lancs.
