Biography:
Susan Barton was born in Manchester and studied at London University, graduating with a B.A. Hons. Degree.
On returning to the north, she spent four years working in the print industry, before becoming a freelance illustrator for a variety of well-known magazines and book publishers.
Sue Barton began producing prints using etching and aquatint techniques; the velvety tones which can be produced using aquatint on zinc plate particularly suit her subject matter; dimly-lit jazz musicians and the crumbling architecture of the North and other European cities. She also produces paintings in a variety of media.
Exhibitions of her work have been held at Stockport Gallery’s Artlink, as well as a one-man show at ‘Night and Day’ – a well-known Manchester jazz venue, Turners Gallery in Stockport and the Old Parsonage, Didsbury. She is a member of Hotbed Press.
